June 2, 2025 - BASF has launched Ultramid® Advanced N3U42G6, further expanding its portfolio of polyphthalamide (PPA) products. This polyamide 9T (PA9T) material uses halogen-free flame retardants, which minimizes electrical corrosion of metal contacts in electrical and electronic (E&E) components of electric vehicles (EVs). It enhances the safety and durability of high-voltage (HV) connectors in EV inverters, DC-DC converters, and batteries.

Ultramid® Advanced N grade materials exhibit high strength and stiffness over a wide temperature range, along with excellent chemical resistance and dimensional stability. These properties boost the robustness and reliability of thin-walled high-voltage connectors, meeting the industry’s growing demand for halogen-free flame-retardant E&E components used in warm and humid environments.

The new Ultramid® Advanced N3U42G6 is available in two variants: an uncolored version (compatible with UL-approved masterbatches) and a pre-colored version with outstanding color stability. Not only is the material easy to process, but it also ensures excellent color retention of components even after thermal aging.
